The Thomas Edison Guestroom:
Ascending the home’s beautiful staircase to the 2nd floor landing and then making your way around the original three-foot high railing you enter the sitting room of the Thomas Edison suite.
Named in honor of the historic 1921 visit by Thomas Edison to Florence and the Shoals, this well-appointed suite features a sitting room and cozy bedroom/bath. Highlights of the suite’s sitting room include a thick wool art-deco rug, an inviting love-seat, an elegant teal wingback reading chair, large electric fireplace, Direct TV/media center and a comfortably peaceful atmosphere. Business travelers will appreciate the antique secretary desk if work is necessary. There are also two Limestone House Bed & Breakfast robes for your use.
The Thomas Edison guestroom bedroom/bath features a superb wood floor, armoire, and a full-length mirror. This appealing room features a plush, queen-sized Comfortaire bed topped with lavish 800-thread-count sheets and designer comforter. Around the suite’s bed are Battenberg lace curtained windows on two sides as well as the original limestone outer wall of this century-old home. You can simply reach out your hand to touch stones hoisted and secured into place 100 years ago.
Other amenities include hair dryer, AM/FM clock radio with iPhone, mp3 or iPod station, Wi-Fi connection, zone temperature control.
Amenities for the bath include towel warmer, period black & white tile flooring and a fantastic column power shower, which transforms a cozy tile shower for two into a steam shower for two to enjoy.
Finally, the sloped ceiling in this room allows its tin-roof construction to lull you to sleep to the sounds of an Alabama spring or summer shower.
